Easy Savoy Cabbage
This simple side dish transforms savoy cabbage into something rich and comforting. The cabbage is first blanched, then sautéed with butter, cream, and a hint of nutmeg until soft and luscious. It's a quick and flavourful accompaniment, perfect for a family dinner and ready in about 20 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 head savoy cabbage, sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 0.25 cup heavy whipping cream, or to taste
- 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Method
- Put the sliced cabbage in a pot and cover it with cold water, then bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, let it cook for 1 minute.
- Drain the cabbage and rinse it under cold running water. Use your hands to squeeze out as much moisture as you can until the cabbage is very dry.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add the dried cabbage, cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cabbage becomes soft and has a creamy texture, which should take 2 to 4 minutes.
