Easy Egg Fried Rice
This simple fried rice dish is perfect for a speedy dinner. It combines pantry staples including instant rice, chopped onion, green beans, and soy sauce, all stir-fried together in a wok with a lightly beaten egg. The method is straightforward, resulting in a flavourful meal for four that can be prepared in about 20 minutes total.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup uncooked instant rice
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 0.5 onion, finely chopped
- 0.5 cup green beans
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
Method
- Assemble all the required ingredients.
- In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and 0.5 teaspoon salt to a boil. Add 1 cup uncooked instant rice, stir, and take off the heat. Cover the pan and leave it to stand for 5 minutes.
- Warm 1 teaspoon vegetable oil in a medium skillet or wok. Cook 0.5 finely chopped onion and 0.5 cup green beans in the hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Pour 1 large lightly beaten egg into the pan and fry it for 2 minutes, scrambling it as it sets.
- Stir the cooked rice into the egg mixture until well combined. Finish by seasoning with 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper.
