Cranberry Vodka
This British drink is a bittersweet, fruity vodka infusion, ideal for serving well-chilled in shot glasses. The recipe requires just three ingredients and a brief preparation time. You can easily substitute the cranberries with other berries, such as blackcurrants or strawberries, for a different flavour. After a two-week infusion period, the vodka is ready to be strained and bottled. It makes approximately one litre of flavoured spirit.
Ingredients
- 250g fresh or frozen cranberries or other berries
- 1l bottle vodka
- 175g caster sugar
Method
- Use a fork to prick every cranberry a couple of times. Place them in a large, sterilised Kilner jar in layers with the caster sugar. Pour the entire bottle of vodka over the top. Leave the mixture to infuse for 2 weeks, remembering to shake the jar once each day.
- Strain the infused vodka through a sieve to remove the fruit. Transfer the liquid into decorative bottles, then seal and label them.
