Cranberry Margarita
This festive cocktail puts a holiday twist on the classic margarita by incorporating tart cranberry juice. The drink combines silver tequila and triple sec with freshly squeezed orange and lime juice, shaken together and served over ice in a sugar and salt rimmed glass. Topped with a lemon lime soda, it's a vibrant and flavourful option for entertaining. The recipe yields two cocktails and takes only 10 minutes to prepare.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon white sugar, or as needed
- 1 teaspoon salt, or as needed
- ice cubes
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lime, sliced
- 4 ounces 100% cranberry juice (such as Ocean Spray® Organic)
- 2 ounces silver tequila (such as Patron®)
- 1 ounce triple sec
- 1 orange, juiced
- 1 lime, juiced
- 8 ounces lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage (such as Squirt®)
Method
- Prepare two wine glasses by rimming them with sugar and salt. Fill each glass with ice cubes and place an orange slice and a lime slice inside.
- Combine the cranberry juice, silver tequila, triple sec, orange juice and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Shake the mixture thoroughly.
- Divide the shaken mixture evenly between the two prepared glasses. Finish each cocktail by topping it up with the lemon lime flavoured carbonated beverage.
