This recipe transforms plain microwave popcorn into a sweet and spiced snack. A simple syrup made from butter, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla is poured over the popcorn before a brief bake in the oven. Cinnamon Sugar Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 2 (3 1/3 ounce) bags microwave popcorn, popped & unpopped kernels removed
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Set your oven to 250 degrees. Transfer the popped popcorn to a large bowl, discarding any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the butter and sugar and melt them together. Take the pan off the heat and mix in the cinnamon and vanilla extract. Drizzle this mixture over the popcorn and toss to coat it thoroughly. Transfer the coated popcorn to a greased large roasting pan.
  3. Bake the popcorn in the oven for 10 minutes, giving it a stir after 5 minutes. Once baked, take it out and allow it to cool completely before you serve.
