Chinese Napa Cabbage Salad

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 ounce) package chicken flavored ramen noodles
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.5 cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • 0.5 cup blanched slivered almonds
  • 1 large head napa cabbage, shredded
  • 6 green onions, chopped
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 0.125 cup white sugar

Method

  1. Crush the ramen noodles and brown them in a medium skillet with 0.25 cup butter. Mix in 0.5 cup almonds and 0.5 cup sesame seeds, stirring frequently. Incorporate the noodle seasoning packet, then allow the mixture to cool. Combine it in a large bowl with the shredded cabbage and chopped onions.
  2. Make the dressing by whisking 0.25 cup vegetable oil with 0.25 cup rice wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sesame oil and 0.125 cup white sugar. Pour this over the salad, toss everything together thoroughly, and serve immediately.
