Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars
These homemade granola bars are chewy and packed with flavour, ideal for a portable snack. The recipe combines oats, chocolate chips, and marshmallows for a sweet treat. You can easily customise the mix-ins to suit your taste. They bake in a 9x13 inch pan and yield 18 bars, ready in about 40 minutes total.
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup packed brown sugar
- 0.66666668653488 cup peanut butter
- 5 tablespoons corn syrup
- 0.5 cup applesauce
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 0.5 cup miniature marshmallows
- 0.5 cup toasted oat cereal rings
- 0.66666668653488 cup wheat germ
Method
- Set your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Combine the brown sugar, peanut butter, corn syrup, applesauce, and vanilla in a large bowl. In another bowl, mix the rolled oats, chocolate chips, miniature marshmallows, toasted oat cereal rings, and wheat germ. Add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter mixture and stir until everything is coated. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press it down gently.
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the top shows a light golden colour. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into individual bars.
