Cheesy Pull-Apart Calzone
This cheesy pull-apart calzone is a fun and shareable twist on a classic. Made with a convenient pizza dough, it's filled with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and shaved deli turkey. The dough is cleverly cut before baking to create easy-to-pull portions, then finished with a sprinkle of Parmesan. It bakes until golden and is ready to enjoy after a brief cooling period, making it an ideal quick lunch or snack.
Ingredients
- 1 (283 g) can refrigerated prepared pizza crust
- 1/4 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 3 slices deli turkey, shaved
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 tablespoon parmesan cheese, grated
Method
- Heat your oven to 400°F.
- Slice the roll of dough in half across its width.
- Take one half of the dough and unroll it onto a large baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
- Spoon the pizza sauce along the middle of the dough, keeping a 1/2 inch border clear all around.
- Scatter the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Arrange the turkey slices over one half of the cheese-covered area, leaving the other half with just cheese.
- Unroll the second half of the dough and place it over the filling.
- Seal the edges by pressing down with the tines of a fork.
- Slice the rectangle in half from side to side.
- Cut each of these rectangles diagonally into two triangles, but do not move the pieces apart.
- Use a pastry brush to lightly coat the dough surface with water.
- Dust the parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Place in the oven and bake for 15-19 minutes until it turns a golden brown colour.
- Take it out of the oven and let it cool on a rack for 5 minutes.
