Cheesy Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
These savoury rolls are a fantastic appetiser, combining pepperoni with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese inside a pizza dough crust. After being rolled, chilled, and sliced, they bake until golden and the cheese is perfectly melted. They are best enjoyed warm, accompanied by a side of marinara sauce for dipping. This recipe yields 12 individual portions, making it ideal for sharing.
Ingredients
- 1 (13.8 ounce) package Pillsbury® classic pizza crust
- 1 cup marinara sauce, divided
- 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 0.25 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 0.5 cup thinly sliced pepperoni, cut in halves
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
- 0.5 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
- 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Method
- Lay the pizza dough on a floured surface and press it into a rectangular shape. Apply a thin coating of marinara sauce, leaving a 1/2 inch border, then scatter the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Arrange the pepperoni halves and minced onion evenly over the cheese. Finish by sprinkling the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes across the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from one long side to create a log, ensuring the seam is pinched closed. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to firm up for slicing.
- Heat your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- Take the chilled dough log and, using a serrated knife, cut it into 12 equal slices. Position each roll onto the lined baking sheet.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the rolls are a golden brown colour and the cheese inside has melted.
- Warm the leftover marinara sauce and present it alongside the baked pizza rolls for dipping.
