Cheesy Meatball Pull-Apart Pizza Ring
This fun and cheesy Italian appetiser is perfect for parties. A pizza dough base is shaped into a ring and filled with meatballs, ricotta and mozzarella cheese before being baked until golden. It's a simple, shareable dish that uses just a handful of ingredients and is ready in about 30 minutes. Serve it with marinara sauce for dipping.
Ingredients
- 1 pizza crust (I used a DeLallo kit – THE BEST – and used half of the dough to make one pizza ring)
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese (or cream cheese if you want a smoother texture)
- 15-20 meatballs (I used a store bought, yummy, clean-ingredient, pre-made chicken meatball)
- 1-2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
- 1 beaten egg
- dry oregano and sea salt for sprinkling on top
- marinara sauce for dipping
Method
- Set your oven to 400 degrees. Roll the pizza dough out onto a sheet of parchment paper. Make three small intersecting cuts through the centre to create a star pattern.
- In the area between the central cuts and the outer edge of the dough, spread the ricotta cheese. Arrange the 15-20 meatballs over the ricotta, then sprinkle the 1-2 cups of shredded Mozzarella on top.
- Carefully pull the tip of each star point back and tuck it underneath the outer rim of the crust, rolling both sides inwards so they overlap. Do this for all the cut sections. Next, tuck any remaining outer edges upwards and inwards to form a wreath shape.
- Use the beaten egg to brush the surface of the dough. Sprinkle with dry oregano and sea salt. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until it turns a golden brown colour.
- Position a bowl of marinara sauce in the middle of the baked ring. Your pull-apart pizza ring is now ready to serve.
