Cheesy Kale Chips
These homemade kale chips are baked until perfectly crisp and seasoned with nutritional yeast to create a savoury, cheese-like flavour. Using just a few ingredients, they transform fresh kale into a light and satisfying snack or side. The method involves coating the leaves by hand before baking them slowly in the oven to achieve an even, crunchy texture. This recipe yields six servings and takes about 50 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 bunch curly kale, torn
- 0.5 cup nutritional yeast
- 0.33333334326744 teaspoon salt
Method
- Heat your oven to 200 degrees F (95 degrees C).
- Place the torn kale in a large bowl. Add the olive oil, nutritional yeast and salt, then use your hands to mix everything until the kale is well coated.
- Arrange the coated kale in a single layer across your baking sheets.
- Bake in the heated oven. When the kale starts to become slightly crisp, rotate the trays and turn the chips over. Continue baking until they are fully crisp, which will take 45 to 60 minutes in total. Watch them carefully to prevent burning, removing any individual chips that are done earlier than the rest.
