Cheesy Hot Pizza Dip
This quick and indulgent cheese dip captures the flavours of a classic pizza in a shareable format. A creamy base of seasoned cream cheese is layered with mozzarella, parmesan and a rich pizza sauce, then microwaved until bubbling. It's an ideal appetiser for gatherings, served warm with crisp tortilla chips for dipping. The recipe yields about 3 cups and is ready in roughly 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
- 3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 (8 ounce) can pizza sauce
- 2 tablespoons chopped green peppers
- 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions
- tortilla chips
Method
- Beat the softened cream cheese with the Italian seasoning in a mixing bowl.
- Transfer this mixture to a 9-inch microwave-safe pie plate, spreading it evenly without greasing the dish.
- Mix the shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan cheeses together, then scatter half of this blend over the cream cheese layer.
- Spoon the pizza sauce over the cheese, then finish with the rest of the cheese mixture, the chopped green peppers and the sliced green onions.
- Microwave the dish uncovered on high for 3-4 minutes, turning it a half turn a few times during cooking, until the cheese is nearly melted.
- Allow the dip to stand for 1-2 minutes before serving.
- Present it warm with tortilla chips for dipping.
