Cheesy Hashbrown Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 (2 pound) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
  • 0.75 cup butter, melted, divided
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups crushed cornflakes

Method

  1. Collect your ingredients and heat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the thawed hash browns, shredded Cheddar cheese, condensed cream of chicken soup, sour cream, ½ cup of the melted butter, chopped onion, 1 teaspoon salt, and 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper.
  3. Pour this combined mixture into a 3-quart casserole dish.
  4. Place the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter and the crushed cornflakes into a saucepan. warm them gently, stirring until the cornflakes are evenly coated with butter.
  5. Evenly scatter the buttered cornflake mixture over the top of the casserole.
  6. Cover the dish and bake it in your preheated oven for about 40 minutes, until the contents are hot and the topping is crispy.
  7. Serve the casserole while it is still warm.
