Cheesy Hamburger and Broccoli Skillet
This is a simple one dish meal that came together from a few pantry staples. It combines ground beef with broccoli and rice in a creamy sauce made from cheese and cream of chicken soups. The whole dish cooks in a single skillet and is ready to serve in about 20 minutes. It is often enjoyed with buttered toast and a sprinkle of extra cheddar cheese on top.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup frozen broccoli florets
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cheese soup
- 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup Minute Rice
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Method
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet until browned.
- Drain off any excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in the minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the cream of chicken soup and cheese soup, mixing them into the beef.
- Add 1 cup of water, being careful not to fill the skillet too much to leave space for the rice and broccoli.
- Bring the mixture in the skillet to a boil.
- Stir in 1 cup of rice.
- Add 1 cup of broccoli florets, using less if your skillet is crowded.
- Let the skillet simmer for 5 minutes.
