Featuring a flavourful blend of butter, garlic, grated Jarlsberg cheese, parsley, and a hint of dried chillies, the mixture is spread over a round loaf and baked until golden. Perfect as a French-inspired snack or side dish, this recipe yields 12 delicious portions and takes just 45 minutes to prepare and bake.
Ingredients
- 85g butter room temperature
- 2 garlic cloves finely chopped
- 175g jarlsberg cheese coarsley grated
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1/4 tsp crushed dried chillies
- 1 round French country loaf, or ciabatta
Method
- Set your oven to fan 170C, conventional 190C, or gas 5. Combine the butter and garlic by beating them together, then stir in the grated cheese, parsley, and chillies. Slice the loaf in half crossways through its centre.
- Cover the cut surfaces of both bread halves with the prepared cheese mixture. Loosely wrap each half in foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for a further 10-15 minutes until a pale golden colour appears. Slice into wedges before serving.
