This recipe recreates a favourite cheesy garlic bread from a local pizza shop. Using a simple baguette, garlic butter, and mozzarella string cheese, it bakes in a 180C oven for 15 minutes. The result is a warm, stringy, and garlicky loaf perfect for sharing. It makes about 12 pieces, ideal for serving four to six people as a quick and satisfying side dish.

Cheesy Garlic Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette (12-inch/30cm)
  • 2 tablespoons garlic butter (or as much as you like)
  • 3 sticks mozzarella string cheese

Method

  1. Slice the baguette 12 times, ensuring you do not cut all the way through, then spread garlic butter onto both sides of each cut.
  2. Carefully make a lengthwise slit along the top of the baguette, again avoiding cutting through the base.
  3. Arrange the mozzarella string cheese sticks into the centre slit, overlapping them slightly if needed to fit.
  4. Wrap the loaf tightly in foil and bake in a preheated 180C oven for 15 minutes. For a crispier top, open the foil slightly for the final 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and serve the bread immediately while hot.
