Cheesy Crock Pot Lasagna
This family favourite, an Italian one dish meal, originated from a relative's birthday party. It features wide egg noodles combined with hamburger, spaghetti sauce, Velveeta and mozzarella cheeses. The mixture is prepared on the stove then transferred to a slow cooker to meld together beautifully, requiring no supervision as it cooks. It yields enough for a crowd from a single crock pot.
Ingredients
- 6 1/2 cups uncooked wide egg noodles (1 regular bag size)
- 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine
- 1 1/2 cups hamburger
- 2 1/4 cups spaghetti sauce
- 6 ounces Velveeta cheese (cubed)
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese
Method
- Prepare the egg noodles following the packet instructions. Once drained, mix in the butter until the noodles are coated.
- Brown the hamburger in a frying pan. Drain away any excess fat.
- Combine the cooked noodles, spaghetti sauce, cubed Velveeta cheese, mozzarella cheese and the browned hamburger in a bowl.
- Transfer the combined mixture to the crock pot, cover with the lid and cook on the low setting for 4 hours. It is ready when the cheese has fully melted and the pasta is hot.
