Cheesy Courgette Pizza
This cheesy courgette pizza is a fantastic family meal that children can help prepare. Using a simple pizza base mix, it's topped with a tomato sauce, sliced courgette, and a generous mix of grated cheddar and torn mozzarella. It bakes in the oven for a golden finish, making a satisfying main course that serves four when paired with a salad. The recipe is designed to be engaging for young cooks.
Ingredients
- 1 courgette
- 1 pizza base mix
- 6 tbsp tomato-based pasta sauce
- cheddar for grating
- 1 ball mozzarella
Method
- Have your helper preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Slice the courgette into chunks, then create thin pieces using a rotary grater or a small knife.
- Empty the pizza base mix into a bowl and pour in the water quantity specified on the packet. Stir everything together with a spoon.
- Transfer the dough to a surface dusted with flour and knead it until it feels smooth.
- Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into one large pizza base. Gently stretch it as you roll to enlarge it. Move the dough onto a baking sheet and press it out evenly.
- Place the tomato pasta sauce in the centre and use a spoon to spread it out. Lay the prepared courgette slices over the sauce.
- Grate the cheddar cheese and scatter it over the pizza. Tear the mozzarella ball into small pieces and distribute them on top. Ask an adult to bake the pizza for 25 mins.
