Cheesy Chicken and Bacon Turnovers
These handheld turnovers are filled with a creamy mixture of cooked chicken, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, broccoli and green onions, all bound with mayonnaise and ranch dressing. Wrapped in convenient crescent roll dough, they bake until golden for a satisfying lunch or snack that travels well. The recipe yields four portions and takes just 30 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup boneless skinless chicken breast, cooked and diced
- 4 slices bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
- 1/2 cup broccoli, chopped
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons ranch salad dressing
- 1 (8 ounce) can crescent roll dough (like Pilsbury)
Method
- Heat your oven to 350 (180 C).
- In a bowl, mix together the diced chicken, shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped broccoli, sliced green onions, mayonnaise and ranch dressing until well combined.
- Open the can of crescent roll dough and separate it into four rectangles.
- Spoon an equal portion of the chicken filling onto the centre of each dough rectangle.
- Pull the dough over the filling to enclose it completely, then press the edges together with a fork to seal.
- Transfer the turnovers to a baking tray lined with parchment or lightly greased and bake for 20 minutes until they turn golden brown.
- Allow the turnovers to cool slightly before you serve them.
