Cheesy Beef Pasta
This is a thrifty and satisfying pasta dish, perfect for a family meal. It combines ground beef with macaroni, tomato sauce and plenty of cheddar cheese for a comforting result. The recipe is quick to prepare, taking just 30 minutes from start to finish. It yields a generous amount, ideal for feeding a crowd or for freezing portions to enjoy another day.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs elbow macaroni
- 1 lb ground beef (do not drain grease)
- 2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (3 7/8 ounce) can of sliced olives
- 1 lb shredded cheddar cheese (16oz)
- 1/2 onion (any kind may be used, finely diced)
- 2/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 3 tablespoons dried oregano
- 3 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Method
- Finely dice the onion and set it aside.
- Open all the required cans and have them ready.
- Begin cooking the ground beef in a pan until it is about half cooked.
- Add the diced onion to the pan with the beef.
- Continue cooking until the onion has softened and turned a light brown colour and the beef is fully cooked through.
- Remove the pan from the heat and set the beef mixture aside.
- Ensure you do not drain away the cooking fat from the beef.
- Cook the elbow macaroni in a separate pot as directed on its packaging.
- Once cooked, drain the pasta and combine it with the reserved beef and onion mixture.
- Incorporate all the remaining ingredients into the pasta pot.
- Stir everything together thoroughly until well combined, then it is ready to serve.
