It requires just a handful of ingredients and about 45 minutes to prepare.

Cheesy BBQ Bread

Ingredients

  • 0.75 pound butter
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds, or to taste
  • 1 (1 pound) loaf sourdough French bread
  • 1 pound white American cheese, sliced

Method

  1. Set your oven to heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Place butter in a small saucepan to melt, then add the minced onion and cook for 5 to 10 minutes until it becomes translucent. Mix the poppy seeds into the onion and butter.
  3. Take the sourdough French bread and slice it without cutting all the way through the bottom. Insert a slice of American cheese into every slit, then add a spoonful of the poppy seed mixture into each one. Enclose the entire loaf in aluminium foil.
  4. Place the wrapped loaf in your preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes, until the cheese has fully melted.
