Cheesy Baked Cauliflower
This recipe creates a stunning whole baked cauliflower, perfect for a dinner table centrepiece. The cauliflower is first steamed until tender, then coated in a tangy blend of mustard and mayonnaise. It's dotted with butter, generously covered in Parmesan cheese, and baked until the topping is beautifully browned and crisp. The result is a flavourful, melt-in-the-mouth dish that works wonderfully as a substantial side or a vegetarian entree. It serves five people and takes about 65 minutes to prepare and cook.
Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower
- 0.25 cup butter, cut into pieces
- 1 teaspoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Method
- Steam the entire head of cauliflower for 30 minutes. Once done, drain it and transfer to a pie plate.
- Set your oven to heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Mix the mayonnaise and mustard together in a bowl. Spread this mixture over the surface of the cauliflower. Dot the cauliflower with pieces of butter, then cover it liberally with the grated Parmesan cheese.
- Place the dish in your preheated oven and bake without a cover for about 30 minutes, until the cheese has turned a golden brown colour.
