Cheese Dipping Sauce
This recipe shows you how to create a delicious cheese dip from scratch. Using real Cheddar cheese and mustard, it produces a smooth, flavourful sauce that is far superior to processed versions. Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Place the butter in a medium saucepan to melt. Mix in the flour and 1 teaspoon of salt until the contents start to bubble.
- Pour in the milk gradually, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens. Add the cheese and mustard, stirring until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce is velvety. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper, then serve while warm.
