Burger of the Gods
This recipe creates a premium burger, aptly named for its divine flavour. It combines chuck and sirloin steak, seasoned only with kosher salt, to form rich patties. They are cooked in a hot skillet to your preferred doneness, optionally topped with cheese, and served on lightly toasted Kaiser rolls. The result is a simple yet exceptionally tasty burger that needs little embellishment.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces chuck, trimmed,cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
- 8 ounces sirloin, trimmed,cut into 1 1/2 inch cubes
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 slices of your favorite cheese (optional)
- 3 kaiser rolls, lightly toasted
Method
- Pulse the chuck meat in a food processor for 10 pulses, then repeat this process with the sirloin.
- Transfer the processed chuck and sirloin to a large mixing bowl and add the kosher salt.
- Shape the seasoned meat mixture into patties weighing 5 oz each.
- Preheat a cast iron skillet or griddle for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Lay the formed patties into the hot pan.
- To achieve a medium-rare result, cook each patty for 4 minutes per side.
- For a medium finish, allow the patties to cook for 5 minutes on each side.
- Turn the burgers over just one time while they are cooking.
- Should you wish to include cheese, add a slice to each burger during the final minutes of cooking.
- Present the cooked burgers on the lightly toasted Kaiser rolls.
