Brownie Tassies
These Brownie Tassies are delightful individual tarts. A pastry base is filled with a whole hazelnut and topped with a rich chocolate mixture before baking. The result is a perfect bite-sized dessert that combines a crisp shell with a soft, nutty chocolate centre. They are best removed from their tins while still warm to ensure they come out cleanly. This recipe yields 24 tassies.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 hazelnuts
Method
- Set your oven to 350°F. Prepare the tassie pastry from recipe #59854 and use it to line your mini muffin cups.
- In a saucepan, melt the chocolate chips together with the butter.
- Take the saucepan off the heat.
- Mix the sugar, beaten egg and vanilla into the melted chocolate mixture.
- Position one whole hazelnut into the middle of each pastry-lined cup.
- Spoon approximately one rounded teaspoon of the chocolate mixture over each hazelnut.
- Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- As soon as they are baked, use the tip of a pointed knife to carefully lift each tassie from its cup onto a cooling rack.
- Leaving them to cool in the pan will make them harder to extract.
- Your initial attempts might break, but you will quickly master the technique for perfect removal.
