These irresistible appetisers feature cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon and generously coated with brown sugar. Once baked, the sugar melts into a sticky glaze that crisps the bacon. Brown Sugar Smokies

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bacon
  • 1 (16 ounce) package little smokie sausages
  • 1 cup brown sugar, or to taste

Method

  1. Set your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) to preheat.
  2. Slice each bacon strip into three pieces. Encircle each little smokie sausage with a piece of bacon. Thread several of the wrapped sausages onto individual wooden skewers. Place the skewers on a baking tray and cover them generously with brown sugar.
  3. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, turning the skewers once during cooking, until the bacon is crisp and the sugar has melted.
  4. Move the skewers to a platter. Allow them to rest for 5 minutes before serving. the glaze will become thicker as it cools down.
