This quick American dinner features tender filet mignon steaks. They are coated with a piquant glaze made from light brown sugar, prepared horseradish, grated shallot and black pepper. Broiled Filet Mignon

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon grated shallot
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 4 (4 ounce) filet mignon steaks

Method

  1. Position an oven rack roughly 3 inches from the broiler element and switch the oven to the broil setting. Use cooking spray to lightly coat a broiler pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the packed light brown sugar, prepared horseradish, grated shallot and ground black pepper.
  3. Arrange the filet mignon steaks on the prepared broiler pan. Use half of the brown sugar mixture to coat the top of each steak.
  4. Place the pan under the preheated broiler for 5 minutes. Flip the steaks over, then spread the rest of the sugar mixture on top. Continue broiling for another 5 to 9 minutes, until the steaks reach your preferred level of doneness.
