Broccoli and Peas with Sesame Seeds, Soy and Honey
Elevate your dinner with this flavourful Asian side dish. Broccoli florets and frozen peas are quickly boiled, then tossed in a simple dressing of soy sauce, honey and a touch of sesame oil. The vegetables are finished with a generous sprinkle of toasted sesame and poppy seeds for a delicious, low-fat accompaniment that pairs wonderfully with fish. Ingredients
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds lightly toasted
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- 1 head of broccoli cut into florets
- 100g frozen peas
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp clear honey
- 1/4 tsp sesame oil
Method
- Combine the soy sauce, clear honey and sesame oil in a small bowl to create the dressing. In another dish, mix together the lightly toasted sesame seeds and the poppy seeds. Bring a pan of water to the boil and cook the broccoli florets and frozen peas for 2 mins, then drain them thoroughly.
- Return the drained broccoli and peas to the warm pan. Pour half of the prepared dressing and half of the seed mixture over the vegetables. Shake the pan for a few secs to coat everything evenly. Transfer to a serving dish and finish by sprinkling over the remaining dressing and seeds.
