Bitter Orange & Cardamom Martini
This decadent martini captures the festive aroma of Christmas spice, ideal for starting the party season. It combines vodka with Seville orange marmalade and orange liqueur, infused with bashed cardamom pods and brightened with lemon juice. The mixture is warmed, strained, and chilled before serving over ice with an extra spoonful of marmalade. A single cardamom pod floated on top completes the elegant presentation for a sophisticated cocktail experience.
Ingredients
- 12 cardamom pods
- 6 tbsp Seville orange marmalade plus more to serve
- 400ml vodka
- 125ml orange liqueur
- 4 tbsp lemon juice
- ice to serve
Method
- Use a pestle and mortar to bash 6 cardamom pods until they split open.
- Warm the marmalade in a pan until melted, then whisk in the vodka. Stir in the crushed pods. Gently heat the mixture for a few mins without boiling. Remove from the heat and allow it to infuse for 20 mins before straining.
- Stir the orange liqueur and lemon juice into the infused vodka. Chill the mixture, or place it in the freezer. To serve, add a little extra marmalade to each glass, then pour over ice and top with a floating cardamom pod.
