Beef and Salsa Burgers
This recipe offers a lighter, homemade version of a classic burger. Lean minced beef is combined with grated vegetables and wholemeal breadcrumbs for a nutritious patty, which is then grilled and served in a toasted bun with a fresh tomato salsa. It's a quick and satisfying meal, perfect for a speedy dinner or lunch, and provides a healthier option without sacrificing flavour. The whole process takes only 20 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 300g lean minced beef
- 50g wholemeal breadcrumb
- 50g carrot grated
- 1 small onion grated
- small handful parsley leaves chopped
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 wholemeal burger buns
- small pot tomato sauce
Method
- Set your grill to a medium setting. Combine the minced beef, breadcrumbs, grated carrot, grated onion, chopped parsley, and Worcestershire sauce in a large mixing bowl, seasoning the mixture thoroughly. Form the mix into four equal patties and arrange them on a baking tray.
- Cook the burgers under the grill for 3-4 minutes per side until they are fully cooked. Set them aside to keep warm. Halve the wholemeal buns and position them cut-side up under the grill to toast lightly for 1 minute. Assemble the burgers by placing salad in the toasted buns, adding a patty to each, and finishing with a generous spoonful of tomato sauce.
