Baked Fish with Lemon & Black Pepper

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fish fillet, your choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh black pepper, Ground
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice, fresh squeezed

Method

  1. Put the fish fillets into a medium bowl and add the salt, turmeric, cumin, black pepper and minced garlic, tossing everything to coat the fish evenly.
  2. Cover the bowl and let the fish marinate in the fridge for 50 - 60 minutes.
  3. Heat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  4. Use the vegetable oil to lightly coat the base of an 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
  5. Arrange the marinated fish in one layer in the prepared dish and pour any remaining marinade over the top.
  6. Bake the dish without a cover for 20-25 minutes.
  7. The fish should feel firm when touched.
  8. It is ready when it flakes apart easily with a fork.
  9. Drizzle the fresh lemon juice over the fish about 5 minutes before you plan to serve it.
