Baked Chicken Wings
These baked chicken wings are first coated in a seasoned flour mixture for a crisp exterior, then baked until golden. While they cook, a simple sauce of butter and your favourite wing sauce is prepared. The finished wings are tossed in the sauce for a classic, flavourful result. You can optionally return them to the oven briefly for a sticky glaze. The entire process takes about 80 minutes from start to finish.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings (more is fine)
- 16 ounces , sweet baby ray wing sauce (or your favorite)
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Method
- Set your oven to heat to 425 F.
- Wash the chicken wings and pat them completely dry.
- Combine the flour with the garlic salt, paprika, and onion powder in a bowl.
- Dredge the dried wings in the spiced flour mixture until fully covered.
- Arrange the coated wings on a broiler pan or cookie sheet and bake them for 1 hour, remembering to turn them over after 1/2 hr.
- As the wings bake, melt the butter and stir it together with the wing sauce.
- When the baking time is complete, toss the hot wings thoroughly in the prepared sauce. For a set glaze, you may bake them again for 5 more minutes.
- To make the wings extra saucy, you can repeat the coating process from the previous step.
