Arnold Palmer
This recipe creates the famous Arnold Palmer, a cool American drink named for the golfer. It combines freshly brewed tea with a zesty, frozen lemonade made from scratch. You will prepare a simple syrup, steep the tea, and blend the lemonade components. The result is a perfectly balanced, non-alcoholic beverage ideal for warm weather. The total preparation time is about 15 minutes.
Ingredients
- For the tea:
- 4 English breakfast tea bags
- 1 tea kettle filled with boiling water
- For the simple syrup:
- 200g granulated sugar
- 240ml water
- For the lemonade:
- 240ml simple syrup
- 240ml lemon juice
- 1 lemon, zested
- 250g ice cubes, plus additional for serving
Method
- For the tea, secure the tea bags together and attach them to a large pitcher's handle. Pour the boiling water from the kettle over the bags into the pitcher. Leave it to steep for 5 minutes.
- To make the simple syrup, combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let it simmer until the sugar dissolves fully. Take the pan off the heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
- For the lemonade, place the simple syrup, lemon juice, lemon zest, and ice cubes into a blender. Pulse the ingredients until they form a puree. Transfer this mixture to the freezer until the tea is ready.
- Fill a large glass with additional ice cubes. Pour the steeped tea over the ice.
- Use an ice cream scoop to add a portion of the frozen lemonade mixture into the glass with the tea.
