Ahi Tuna Poke
This traditional Hawaiian dish combines cubed ahi tuna with a savoury marinade of soy sauce and sesame oil. Mixed with green onions, toasted sesame seeds, macadamia nuts and red pepper, it is left to chill for a minimum of 2 hours to develop its rich umami taste. It is typically served over a bed of rice for a satisfying main course. The recipe yields 4 generous portions and requires 130 minutes total time, most of which is for marinating.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh tuna steaks, cubed
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 0.75 cup chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped macadamia nuts
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
