Ingredients
- 1/2 cup good olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 (24 ounce) cans tomato sauce (or plum tomatoes)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 tablespoon basil
- 1/2 tablespoon parsley
Method
- Warm the olive oil in a stockpot and cook the minced garlic and chopped onion until they begin to turn golden. Include the red pepper flakes at this stage if you are using them.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, then add the salt, basil, and parsley to the pot.
- Should you be using plum tomatoes, take a hand blender and puree them directly in the stockpot.
