5 Layer Italian Dip
This is a classic and reliable appetiser featuring five distinct layers. It begins with a creamy parmesan and cream cheese base, followed by pesto, pimientos, and two more cheeses. The assembled dip is baked until hot and bubbly. It is an excellent choice for offering guests something a bit unique and is ideal for serving with crackers or slices of Italian bread. The entire preparation and cooking process takes only 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
- 1/3 cup di giorno pesto sauce
- 1 (4 ounce) jar chopped pimiento, drained
- 1/2 cup shredded low-moisture part-skim mozzarella cheese
- crackers or sliced Italian bread
Method
- Combine the softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese using an electric mixer set to medium speed. Mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated and smooth.
- Transfer the blended cheese mixture to a 9-inch pie plate or quiche dish. Use a spatula to spread it into an even layer covering the bottom of the dish.
- Begin layering the remaining components over the cream cheese base. First, spread the pesto sauce evenly. Next, scatter the drained pimientos, followed by the shredded mozzarella cheese. Finish by sprinkling the remaining 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese on top.
- Place the dish in an oven preheated to 350 degrees. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the dip is heated all the way through and the cheese on top has melted.
- Remove the dip from the oven and present it warm alongside your choice of crackers or slices of Italian bread for dipping.
