5 Ingredient Sunday Chicken
This straightforward recipe requires only five core ingredients, plus garlic powder and white pepper for seasoning. Chicken pieces are arranged in a slow cooker with bacon and ham, then covered with a mixture of cream of celery soup and evaporated milk. After cooking for 4 hours on high and 1 hour on low, the tender chicken in its creamy sauce is ready to be served over rice or mashed potatoes. It's a family friendly meal that comes together with minimal effort.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 5 slices bacon
- 3 slices ham, sandwich slices
- 2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of celery soup
- 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
- garlic powder, to taste
- white pepper, to taste
Method
- Slice each chicken breast into three pieces. Arrange them in the base of a crock pot that has been sprayed with non stick spray.
- Cover the chicken with bacon that has been sliced into small pieces, similar to bits for a casserole topping, and add chopped slices of ham.
- Sprinkle garlic powder and white pepper over the layers. Use roughly 1/3 teaspoon of garlic powder and 1/4 teaspoon of white pepper.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cans of cream of celery soup with the evaporated milk.
- Pour the soup mixture over the contents in the crock pot and place the lid on top.
- Cook on the high setting for 4 hours, then switch to low and cook for 1 hour. Stir once when you change the temperature setting.
- Serve the finished chicken and its sauce over a bed of rice or mashed potatoes, according to preference.
