5-Bean Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb bacon
  • 2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 (15 ounce) can lima beans, drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1 (16 ounce) can bush beans
  • 1 (15 ounce) can chili or 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans
  • 1 lb ground beef, browned
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 cloves garlic

Method

  1. Cook the bacon until crisp and set aside one tablespoon of the rendered fat.
  2. Cook the chopped onions in the reserved bacon fat until they become soft and clear.
  3. Combine the cooked onions, crumbled bacon, and all other listed ingredients in a large casserole dish.
  4. Place the dish in an oven preheated to 325 degrees and bake for approximately 1 1/2 hours.
