5-4-3-2-1 Pear Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 8 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pear
  • butter (optionnal)
  • maple sugar, flakes (optionnal)

Method

  1. Mix the flour, sugar and baking powder together in a bowl and set this aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs and vegetable oil.
  3. Combine the contents of both bowls and pour the resulting batter into a pie plate that has been greased with butter.
  4. Peel the pear and slice it thinly, then arrange these slices over the top of the cake batter.
  5. If desired, place small slices of butter on top and sprinkle with maple sugar flakes.
  6. You may also add dried cranberries or fresh blueberries at this stage.
  7. Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 350 for about 35 -40 minutes.
