Caipirinha 43
This cocktail offers a twist on the classic Caipirinha by using Spanish Licor 43 in place of cachaça. The liqueur, with its complex blend of 43 ingredients including citrus and vanilla, is combined with light rum, fresh lemon and sugar. The result is a vibrant, sweet and aromatic drink that is quick to prepare. It is a popular modern variation that highlights the unique flavour profile of Licor 43.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces Licor 43
- 2 ounces light rum
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 lemon, sliced
- ice
Method
- Place the lemon slices and sugar into a cocktail shaker and muddle them together with a wooden spoon or pestle until the lemon releases its juice and the sugar has dissolved.
- Pour the Licor 43 and light rum into the shaker, add some crushed ice and shake the mixture for 10 seconds. You can taste it and stir in extra sugar if you wish.
- Transfer the entire contents, without straining, into an old-fashioned glass or tumbler. Top up with more ice if required and serve immediately.
