4 Lemon Gallon O' Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 4 large lemons (or 8 small)
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • cold water

Method

  1. Place the sliced lemons into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the sugar over the lemons, then add the quart of boiling water.
  3. Stir the mixture to dissolve the sugar, pressing the lemon slices with a spoon as you go.
  4. Allow the bowl to sit until the contents have cooled down.
  5. Use your hands to squeeze the juice from the lemon pieces, then discard them.
  6. Give the liquid a final stir to ensure the sugar is fully incorporated.
  7. Transfer the concentrate to a gallon jug and top it up with cold water, straining if you wish.
  8. Pour the finished lemonade over ice cubes to serve.
