Four Layer Butterscotch Dessert
This impressive dessert features four distinct layers for a wonderful mix of textures and flavours. It begins with a baked crust made from flour, nuts and butter. A sweet cream cheese layer follows, topped with a thick homemade butterscotch pudding. The final layers are whipped cream and a sprinkling of chopped nuts. It serves a crowd from a single 9x13 inch pan.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup nuts
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup whipped topping
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 (3 1/2 ounce) boxes butterscotch pudding
- 2 cups whipped cream
- 1/2 cup nuts
Method
- Combine the first three ingredients and press the mixture into a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 F for 15 minutes.
- Blend the next three ingredients together and spread this mixture over the first baked layer.
- Whisk the milk, vanilla and butterscotch pudding mix until thickened, then pour this over the second layer.
- Spread the whipped cream evenly over the top of the first three layers.
- Scatter the remaining nuts over the entire dessert before serving.
