4-Ingredient Buckeyes
Named for their resemblance to the nut of the Buckeye tree, these sweet treats offer a safe and delicious alternative to the inedible original. This straightforward candy recipe requires only four components to create dozens of peanut butter centres enrobed in a chocolate coating. The process involves mixing, shaping, chilling, and dipping, resulting in a classic confection ideal for gifting or gatherings. You will need about 180 minutes from start to finish, including chilling time.
Ingredients
- 2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups dipping chocolate or 2 cups chocolate bark
Method
- Prepare two or three large cookie pans by lining them with wax paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the creamy peanut butter and softened butter, beating them together until the mixture is creamy.
- Add the powdered sugar, stirring it in before beating the mixture again until it becomes smooth.
- Form the mixture into balls measuring 1" in diameter and arrange them on the prepared pans.
- Place the pans in the freezer and allow the balls to chill for a minimum of one hour.
- Following the instructions on its packaging, melt your chosen dipping chocolate or chocolate bark.
- Take each frozen peanut butter ball and, using a toothpick, dip it into the melted chocolate.
- Place each dipped ball back onto the wax paper-lined pans, smoothing the top to cover the hole from the toothpick.
- Transfer the pans to the refrigerator and leave the candies there until the chocolate has fully set.
