3-Shot Cocktail (Bandera and Sangrita)
This colourful Mexican drink, known as a Bandera, celebrates the national flag with three distinct shots. The white part is tequila, the green is fresh lime juice, and the red is a spicy sangrita made from tomato and orange juices with jalapeno. The sangrita recipe yields enough for 14 servings and can be prepared ahead. Each guest receives one shot of each colour to sip in turn.
Ingredients
- For the white part
- Tequila, 30 ml per serving
- For the green part
- Fresh lime juice, 30 ml (about 2 tbsp) per serving
- For the red part
- 170ml orange juice
- 170ml regular or spicy tomato juice
- 60ml fresh lime juice
- 1 medium jalapeno chilli, stemmed, seeded and coarsely chopped
- Pinch salt
Method
- The White Part: Pour 30 ml of tequila into each shot glass.
- The Green Part: Pour 30 ml of fresh lime juice into separate shot glasses.
- The Red Part: Combine 170ml orange juice, 170ml tomato juice, 60ml fresh lime juice, one chopped jalapeno, and a pinch of salt in a blender. Blend the mixture until it is completely smooth.
- Pour 30 ml of the blended sangrita into shot glasses. Serve each guest one shot of each colour to enjoy.
