3 Minute No Bake Cookies
These speedy cookies come together without any baking. You simply boil a mixture of sugar, butter, milk and cocoa for exactly 3 minutes before stirring in oats and dropping spoonfuls to set. They firm up on waxed paper, yielding about three dozen treats. The recipe offers a note if you choose to use old fashioned oats instead of quick oats.
Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 8 tablespoons margarine or 8 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup low-fat milk
- 1/3 cup Nestle Toll House Baking Cocoa
- 3 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned*, uncooked)
Method
- Place the sugar, margarine, milk and cocoa into a large saucepan. Bring this mixture to a boil, stirring often. Once boiling, let it cook for 3 minutes while you continue to stir frequently.
- Take the saucepan off the heat. Mix in the oats thoroughly. Use a tablespoon to drop portions of the mixture onto sheets of waxed paper. Allow the cookies to stand until they become firm. Keep them stored in an airtight container.
- This recipe makes approximately 3 dozen cookies.
- Should you opt for old fashioned oats, let the cooked mixture cool in the saucepan for 5 minutes before proceeding.
