3 Minute Bread Pudding in a Mug
This is a wonderfully fast and frugal dessert for one. With a delicate sweetness and hints of cinnamon and raisin, it transforms leftover bread heels into a comforting dish. Ready in mere minutes, it works perfectly as a dessert, breakfast, or a cosy snack any time you fancy something warm and satisfying.
Ingredients
- 2 slices cinnamon raisin bread, cubed
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
Method
- Break the egg into your mug, then pour in the milk and whisk them together thoroughly using a fork.
- Mix in the cubed bread pieces, stirring lightly until they are coated. Allow the mixture to sit briefly for the bread to absorb the liquid, then give it another gentle stir. You could also combine the egg and milk in another bowl first before pouring it over the bread cubes, ensuring all the bread is covered.
- Scatter the optional brown sugar over the top of the mixture.
- Put the mug into the microwave. Cover it securely with a paper towel, tucking the edges of the towel under the mug's base.
- Microwave the pudding for exactly 2 minutes. Finish with a drizzle of syrup if you like, then enjoy immediately.
