This recipe transforms the classic meatloaf by blending three different meats for a richer flavour and texture. The mixture is bound with panko breadcrumbs and a savoury wet blend before being baked. Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 lb ground turkey

Method

  1. Cook the onion in a pan until it softens, then stir in the garlic and thyme.
  2. Take another bowl and mix the ground beef, pork and turkey together completely. Stir in the breadcrumbs and the cooked onion mixture.
  3. Whisk the milk, egg and ketchup together in a small bowl. Pour this into the meat mixture and combine thoroughly.
  4. Form the combined mixture into a loaf shape and transfer it to a meatloaf pan.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 90 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 180 degrees.
