3 Meat Meatloaf
This recipe transforms the classic meatloaf by blending three different meats for a richer flavour and texture. The mixture is bound with panko breadcrumbs and a savoury wet blend before being baked. It results in a hearty and satisfying main dish that serves six people. The total preparation and cooking time is just over an hour and a half.
Ingredients
- 1 small onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 lb ground turkey
Method
- Cook the onion in a pan until it softens, then stir in the garlic and thyme.
- Take another bowl and mix the ground beef, pork and turkey together completely. Stir in the breadcrumbs and the cooked onion mixture.
- Whisk the milk, egg and ketchup together in a small bowl. Pour this into the meat mixture and combine thoroughly.
- Form the combined mixture into a loaf shape and transfer it to a meatloaf pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 90 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 180 degrees.
