3 Ingredient Individual Quinoa Pizza Crust (No Soaking)
This recipe creates a single-serving pizza crust using quinoa without the lengthy soaking process. The crust is made from just three main ingredients, resulting in a texture that is crisp on the outside yet retains a pleasing moisture within. It's a straightforward, healthy alternative to traditional bases, ideal for a quick and satisfying meal. The total preparation and cooking time is around 50 minutes.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup uncooked quinoa
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4-1/2 cup almond flour or 1/4-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon olive oil or 1 teaspoon canola oil
Method
- Heat your oven to 425 degrees.
- Put the quinoa and water into a small pan, season with a little salt, and bring to the boil.
- Once boiling, lower the heat, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes until the quinoa is soft and fluffy. Ensure a couple of teaspoons of water remain. do not let it all absorb.
- In a small bowl, mix the warm quinoa, its remaining liquid (no more than a tablespoon), the oil, and the flour. Use your hands to combine everything into a dough.
- You may choose to mix any preferred seasonings into the dough at this stage for extra flavour.
- Place a sheet of parchment paper on a baking tray. Form the dough on it into a circle roughly 1 cm thick, making a pizza about 6 inches across.
- Bake for ten minutes, then turn it over and bake for a further ten minutes. Continue turning as needed until both sides are crisp to prevent a wet crust. Do not add toppings yet.
- Take the crust from the oven and lift away the parchment. Add your chosen toppings, place the pizza back on the tray without the paper, and bake for about 10 more minutes until the toppings are hot and melted.
- Remove the finished pizza from the oven, slice it, and serve.
