2-Ingredient Pumpkin Mousse
This effortless dessert requires only two key components to create a luxuriously creamy and spiced pumpkin mousse. With no cooking involved, the preparation takes a mere 10 minutes, followed by a chilling period to set the texture. It's an ideal make-ahead sweet treat that delivers rich flavour with minimal effort, perfect for gatherings or a quick dessert fix.
Ingredients
- 1 (29 to 30-ounce) can (3 cups) pumpkin pie filling
- 1 1/2 cups (354 ml) heavy whipping cream, cold
- 1/4 cup prepared whipped cream
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
- Ground cinnamon, for dusting
- 1 pinch sea salt flakes
Method
- Strain the pumpkin pie filling by placing it in a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl, allowing it to drain for 5 minutes. Transfer the strained filling to a clean bowl.
- While the filling drains, pour the cold whipping cream into a large mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer to whip the cream until it forms stiff peaks, which should take a couple of minutes.
- Combine a few spoonfuls of the whipped cream with the pumpkin filling to lighten it. Then, gently fold the entire pumpkin mixture into the remaining whipped cream using a spatula, being careful not to deflate it.
- Divide the mousse among serving dishes. Gently tap each dish on a towel-covered counter to remove air bubbles and smooth the surface. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours before serving with optional toppings.
