A variation includes adding cheddar cheese and scallions for extra flavour. The entire process takes about 55 minutes from mixing to cooling.

2 Ingredient No Knead Beer Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cups self-rising flour (not cake flour)
  • 12 ounces beer, freshly opened, any temp

Method

  1. Set your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  2. Place the self-rising flour into a medium bowl. Pour in the beer and mix using a rubber spatula only until all the flour is moistened. Transfer this batter into your prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes. The loaf is ready when the top is a light golden brown, the sides have pulled away from the pan, and a pick inserted near the centre comes out clean.
  4. Let the bread cool in its pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Then, turn it out onto the rack to cool completely. Slice into 1/2 inch pieces for serving. it makes excellent toast.
  5. For a Cheddar-Scallion variation, combine the flour with 1 cup of shredded sharp Cheddar, 1/2 cup of thinly sliced scallions, and 11/2 tsp poultry seasoning before adding the beer.
