2 Ingredient No Knead Beer Bread
This straightforward bread requires just self-rising flour and beer, with no kneading involved. It bakes in a loaf pan for a golden crust and soft interior, ideal for slicing and toasting. A variation includes adding cheddar cheese and scallions for extra flavour. The entire process takes about 55 minutes from mixing to cooling.
Ingredients
- 2 2/3 cups self-rising flour (not cake flour)
- 12 ounces beer, freshly opened, any temp
Method
- Set your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
- Place the self-rising flour into a medium bowl. Pour in the beer and mix using a rubber spatula only until all the flour is moistened. Transfer this batter into your prepared pan.
- Bake for 50 to 55 minutes. The loaf is ready when the top is a light golden brown, the sides have pulled away from the pan, and a pick inserted near the centre comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in its pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Then, turn it out onto the rack to cool completely. Slice into 1/2 inch pieces for serving. it makes excellent toast.
- For a Cheddar-Scallion variation, combine the flour with 1 cup of shredded sharp Cheddar, 1/2 cup of thinly sliced scallions, and 11/2 tsp poultry seasoning before adding the beer.
